Literary Festival at Hunt Library
Attention book lovers: The North Carolina Literary Festival is coming to the Hunt Library April 3–6, featuring dozens of authors, innovative programs and a slew of related events in the Raleigh area.
This free public event is hosted on a rotating basis by the library systems of NC State, Duke and UNC–Chapel Hill. This time around it’s NC State’s turn, and festival organizers have spared no effort to make the 2014 festival the best one yet.
Featured authors include Pulitzer Prize winners Junot Díaz, Richard Ford and Paul Muldoon; National Book Award winners James McBride and William T. Vollman; North Carolina writers Jaki Shelton Green, Allan Gurganus, Lee Smith and Elizabeth Spencer; best-selling authors Lev Grossman, Peter Straub, Karen Joy Fowler and R.L. Stine; and NC State faculty authors John Balaban, John Kessel, Dorianne Laux, Thomas Lisk, Jill McCorkle, Sheila Smith McKoy, Juliana Makuchi Nfah-Abbenyi, Elaine Neil Orr, Jon Thompson, Cat Warren, Wilton Barnhardt and Walt Wolfram.
The festival also offers a diverse array of programs, including a children’s activity area, a panel discussion on the future of food writing, a bookmaking workshop and Poetry Out Loud, a poetry performance and spoken-word program featuring high school students from around North Carolina.
