Employee Survey Extended to Feb. 19

Spring morning sun illuminates the Holladay Hall and the Memorial Belltower.
Managers across campus have worked hard to cut expenditures since the COVID-19 pandemic forced NC State to reduce campus operations in March.

The deadline for completing the UNC System Employee Engagement Survey has been extended to Monday, Feb. 19. The survey, which measures key indicators of employee engagement such as job satisfaction and institutional pride, is designed to help the state’s public universities identify areas of strength as well as areas that need improvement.

All 17 University of North Carolina System institutions are participating in the survey, which will be administered annually for five years by ModernThink, an independent management consulting firm.

Most employees can take the survey online. If you don’t have your survey instructions from ModernThink, which were sent by email on Jan. 29, just contact the company’s toll-free help desk at (888) 684-4658 or at surveys@modernthink.net. The instructions include a username and password that you’ll need to take the survey online.

About 1,000 employees in maintenance, service and skilled craft positions, who may not have regular access to a computer at work, received paper surveys through campus mail the week of Jan. 29. If you work in one of those areas and want to take the survey but don’t have your survey packet, contact Nancy Whelchel, NC State’s director of survey research, at ncsusurveys@ncsu.edu or (919) 515-4184. She will send you another packet along with a pre-addressed return envelope.

ID Your Division and Department

At the end of the survey employees are asked to identify their division/college and department from a list of options. If you work in a small department or unit, it may not be listed individually.

To make it easier for employees to choose correctly, NC State has developed a Web tool with the appropriate information. Just log in with your Unity ID to find out which division/college and department you should choose on the survey.

For more information, visit the employee engagement survey site or review a list of frequently asked questions. If you have questions, contact ncsusurveys@ncsu.edu.
