On Monday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m., Chancellor Randy Woodson delivered his annual fall address to the NC State community from Stewart Theatre in Talley Student Union.

This year’s “state of NC State” speech recapped high-level achievements from the past year and looked to the university’s future. It also featured the first-ever live episode of Red Chair Chats, the chancellor’s interview series with prominent alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the university.

The chancellor’s guest at the fall address was Christina Koch, NASA astronaut and three-time graduate of NC State. Koch, who grew up in Jacksonville, NC, earned bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and physics in 2001 and her master’s in electrical engineering in 2002. She also received an honorary Ph.D. from NC State in 2020.

Koch holds the record for the longest space mission by a woman (328 days), took part in the first all-female spacewalk and is currently preparing to venture around the moon as part of NASA’s Artemis II mission.
