NC State Hosts Arab League Diplomat Lecture on Iraq, Israel and the Future of U.S.-Arab Relations

North Carolina State University will host a public lecture on Thursday, April 3, by Ambassador Hesham Youssef, the chief of staff of the Arab League of Nations, on some of today’s hot-button issues in the Middle East – including the war in Iraq and relations between Israel and Palestine. The Arab League is the equivalent of the United Nations for the Arab world.

Media coverage of the event is invited. At least 45 minutes will be dedicated to an open question-and-answer session.

The lecture will be held at 7 p.m. in 325 Riddick Hall on NC State’s main campus. To reach Riddick Hall, take Dan Allen Drive north from Western Boulevard or south from Hillsborough Street and turn onto Yarbrough Drive. Parking is located directly across Yarbrough from Riddick Hall.

The lecture, “A Troubled Past – The Future of U.S.-Arab Relations,” will come only days after Youssef’s attendance at an Arab summit in Syria intended to deal with these and other divisive issues facing the Arab world. NC State’s Middle East Studies Program, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Department of History are hosting the lecture.
