Online Degree Programs Climb Atop the Rankings
Programs for business students, educators and engineers ranked high in this year’s U.S. News & World Report rankings for online programs.
NC State continued to excel in the most recent U.S. News & World Report rankings of the nation’s best online college degrees, with three programs named among the top 10 for 2025.
The highest ranking among NC State’s programs went to the online master’s degree in electrical engineering, which rose from No. 8 last year to No. 6 today. Other engineering programs that improved in the rankings were the online master’s degree in information technology, which climbed from No. 18 to No. 13, and the online master’s degree in engineering for veterans, which rose one spot to No. 22.
The online business analytics program in the Jenkins MBA maintained its top-10 standing by coming in at No. 8 for 2025. The overall Jenkins online MBA cracked the top 50 this year by climbing nine spots to No. 42, and the Jenkins online MBA for veterans also entered the top 50 by making the year’s biggest jump in the rankings among all of NC State’s online programs — from No. 60 last year to No. 49 today.
Also improving in 2025 was the online master’s degree in education. The program for veterans reached the top 10 by climbing four spots to No. 7, and the overall program rose seven spots to finish at No. 20.
