NC State is strengthening its commitment to accessibility and student success by launching a new collaboration between the Academic Testing Services (formerly DELTA Testing Services) and the Disability Resource Office (DRO). This improved partnership will expand access to testing accommodations and streamline the process for students and faculty across campus.

What’s Changing?

Beginning this semester, DELTA Testing Services will be renamed Academic Testing Services, reflecting its expanded role and administrative alignment in collaboration with DRO.

For students and instructors: nothing changes in how you request or administer accommodations. Existing workflows remain the same; the difference lies in improved capacity and coordination behind the scenes.

Why This Matters

Academic Testing Services and DRO collaborated during a pilot phase in 2024–25, and the results speak for themselves. The number of accommodated students served increased by 40% compared to the 2023–24 academic year, demonstrating the clear impact of this partnership in scaling support.

“By integrating our systems and working more closely with the Disability Resource Office, we will be able to serve significantly more students,” said Sharon Broere, director of Academic Testing Services. “This partnership allows us to meet the growing need for accessible testing in a way that is sustainable, student-centered and responsive to our campus community.”

Benefits for Students and Faculty

  • Expanded availability of accommodated testing appointments
  • Simplified scheduling and coordination across units
  • Continued compliance with accommodation policies and confidentiality protections

What’s Next?

Over the coming weeks, Academic Testing Services will complete its administrative transition and begin fully operating under its new name. Additional resources and scheduling options can be found online at testing-services.delta.ncsu.edu. For questions, please contact testing-services@ncsu.edu.
