FDA approves first bionic eye for the blind

FDA approves first bionic eye for the blind, Packaging Digest, March 25, 2013. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved bionic eye for use by individuals with end-stage retinitis pigmentosa. The project, conducted under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement, included five universities – California Institute of Technology; Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California; North Carolina State University; University of Utah; and the University of California.
