Podcast: Wild Turkeys

In this episode of Audio Abstract, we talk turkey – wild turkey – with wildlife biologist Chris Moorman.
Turkeys are found all across our state, from the mountains to the coast. And they can fly – not long distances, but they do roost in trees. So if you saw that WKRP in Cincinnati episode back in the day about the turkey drop…well, if you know you know. But those turkeys were domestic, not wild.
Moorman talks about not only the difficulties turkeys have just trying to survive (owls seem particularly vicious), but also about the difficulties researchers have trying to study them. Rocket nets, anyone?
