Food Is Focus of Common Reading

Pamela Ronald and Raoul Adamchak’s 2008 book on organic farming, genetics and food production, “Tomorrow’s Table,” is the 2014 common reading selection. Copies of their book will be distributed to all incoming students who attend orientation over the summer, and the authors will be featured speakers at the fall convocation.

tomorrows-table-200“Tomorrow’s Table” demonstrates how research and discovery can be applied to a compelling issue that relates to everyone: the future of food. It reinforces NC State’s interdisciplinary approaches to the world’s most challenging problems and compels readers to make connections between diverse fields of study, including biology, chemistry, engineering, agriculture, genetics, ethics, economics, politics and world ecology.

The book was chosen from a field of 50 nominated works by a committee composed of faculty, students, staff and parents. To nominate a book for next year, visit the common reading website.
