NC State Police Department Takes Plunge for N.C. Special Olympics

The North Carolina State University Police Department will hold its third annual “Polar Plunge” to raise money for North Carolina  Special Olympics. Police officers and other plungers who have collected at least $50 in donations will jump into Lake Raleigh on NC State’s Centennial Campus at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2.

Media coverage of the “Polar Plunge” is invited. The event takes place near the corner of Campus Shore Drive and Main Campus Drive on Centennial Campus. Access Centennial Campus by turning onto Varsity Drive from Avent Ferry Road and then turn right on Main Campus Drive. Follow Main Campus Drive to the staging area.

Plungers will receive a T-shirt for participating, and awards will be distributed in a variety of categories, such as best costume, oldest plunger and youngest plunger. After taking the plunge, participants will warm up in a tent stocked with hot food donated by local businesses.
