For Halloween Hike, NC State Lots, Streets Open Only with a University ID

Several North Carolina State University-owned parking lots and campus streets will be accessible only to students, faculty and staff after 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. The university is closing the lots and streets to reduce the out-of-area traffic anticipated for the Halloween Hike on Hillsborough Street.

Only people with valid university IDs and/or parking permits will be allowed to use the lots and university streets.

The closures include:

  • Brooks Lot
  • Hillsborough Building lots
  • North Hall Lot
  • Dan Allen Deck
  • Coliseum Deck
  • Student Health Lot
  • Doak Field/Sullivan Lot
  • Entrances to campus from Hillsborough except Dan Allen Drive

Wolfline and Werewolf bus routes may change on Friday evening; expect delays and reroutes.

“We want our students to have the opportunity to have a good time, so we are making the lots available to them,” said David Rainer, associate vice chancellor for environmental health and public safety.  “We are working with the city of Raleigh, taking proactive steps now to ensure the Hillsborough Hike remains a celebration for NC State students and does not turn into the kind of party that brings tens of thousands of people from outside the area. The goal is to work together – the university, student government and the city – to ensure a positive environment.”

Rainer said the streets and lots will re-open to the public on Saturday morning.
