Parish Named Assistant Dean

Dr. David W. Parish has been named assistant dean of academic affairs for the College of Engineering.

Parish’s appointment, effective July 1, follows his two-year stint as interim assistant dean of undergraduate affairs. He chaired the engineering course and curriculum committee and the university courses and curricula committee. He also led the initiative to change the undergraduate curriculum to meet the new general education program requirements.

He has taught classes in civil, construction and environmental engineering and served as an instructor in the First-Year Engineering Program.

Parish previously served in the military, rising to the rank of captain in the U.S. Army and major in the U.S. Army Reserves. He served as a personnel officer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from New Mexico State University and a doctorate in civil engineering from NC State.
