NC State’s Woodson Announces Realignment Plan

North Carolina State University Chancellor Randy Woodson presents Tuesday a plan to realign portions of the institution to increase student success, support the new strategic plan, build greater efficiency and effectiveness, and position the university to better absorb likely budget cuts.

The plan merges several units; implements a review process for a number of academic structures, including low-enrolled programs and courses; combines business operations from various units to make them more efficient; and reduces organizational bureaucracy by streamlining rules, regulations and procedures.

“We have had broad input from the campus to draft our strategic plan and have used that plan to guide our realignment,” Woodson says. “Implementing this plan will not be easy or painless. But to be a nimble, agile, dynamic organization, we take this opportunity to organize ourselves for even greater success.”

Woodson’s letter to the campus community outlining the changes can be found here; the entire plan can be found here.

Provost Warwick Arden and Charles Leffler, vice chancellor for finance and business, were charged in January to provide Woodson a reorganization plan. They delivered their recommendations to Woodson last week.
