Robbins Honored for Poultry Research
Dr. Kabel Robbins, a resident in the College of Veterinary Medicine, will be recognized for poultry research at an upcoming national meeting.
Robbins will discuss his most recent findings and accept the Reed Rumsey Student Award for the Advancement of Avian Medicine this summer during a joint meeting of the American Veterinary Medical Association and American Association of Avian Pathologists.
Robbins, who is in the second year of a poultry medicine residency training program, is studying Enterococcal spondylitis, an emerging poultry disease. He isolated the causative agent after collecting samples from North Carolina outbreaks and carried out trace-back investigations.
Last year, he presented findings at the National Meeting on Poultry Health and Processing and the North Carolina Veterinary Conference.
