American Idol finalist Scotty McCreery of Garner will be on campus Saturday, May 15, to throw out the first pitch before NC State’s baseball game against Florida State.

The 17-year-old junior at Garner High School advanced to the final round of three on American Idol on Thursday. McCreery, a right-handed pitcher with a good curveball, has put his pitching aspirations on hold for the show.

Saturday’s game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Doak Field at Dail Park. McCreery’s ceremonial first pitch should be sometime between 6:20 and 6:30.

A limited number of tickets are available. In anticipation of a sellout, fans are encouraged to purchase tickets for any children (17 and under) in advance to guarantee entrance into the stadium. Tickets are $7. The ticket office at Doak Field at Dail Park will open at 4 p.m. on Saturday, and the gates will open at 4:30. Standing-room-only tickets will be available for purchase on game day.

All fans are urged to arrive before 5 p.m. to ensure access to parking and the stadium.

Because of construction of the West Lot parking deck, baseball parking has been limited this season at Doak Field at Dail Park. Limited parking is available in the east end of the West Lot along Sullivan Drive. Additional parking is available for all weekend games  in the parking lots adjacent to the administration services buildings along Sullivan Drive. All of these lots are on the opposite side of Sullivan Drive from Doak Field at Dail Park.
