Clark to Receive Friday Award

Dr. James W. Clark Jr., professor emeritus of English, will receive the William C. Friday Award for Distinguished Service in Retirement from the Association of Retired Faculty. Presentation of the award will be made at a luncheon in his honor at the University Club in Raleigh on May 16. Reservations can be made online through Thursday, May 10.

Clark is widely known for his scholarship in folklore and literature, and for his dedication to promoting educational opportunities for North Carolina children and adults.

In retirement he has continued to work with 4-H and to teach his highly subscribed courses and study tours in creative writing. He volunteers through Encore, the program of lifelong learning at NC State, and at schools, community centers and retirement communities.
