Respect the Pack

When you have a statement to make at NC State, there’s no better billboard than the Free Expression Tunnel. For the second year in a row, the campus community will start the year by taking a powerful message to the tunnel.

That message: All are welcome here.

Respect The Pack, an annual Wolfpack Welcome Week event, brings students, faculty and staff, and administrators together to paint messages of inclusion in the Free Expression Tunnel. The second annual Respect The Pack is Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 7 to 9 p.m.

“It’s an opportunity for us to come together as a community and to celebrate the Free Expression Tunnel and all that it means,” said Mike Giancola, associate vice provost for student leadership and engagement, and director of the Center for Student Leadership, Ethics and Public Service, at the inaugural event in 2011. “And certainly to celebrate free expression on our campus, but to help folks in our community understand that a big part of coming here and being a part of this community is being respectful and having dialogue that engages people but also makes everyone feel welcome here on this campus.”
