Speakers Added to Manufacturing Event

Chancellor Randy Woodson and North Carolina Commerce Secretary Sharon Decker have been added as featured speakers on Friday at NC State’s celebration of National Manufacturing Day on Centennial Campus.

Woodson will kick off the daylong activities with an address at 9 a.m. in the multipurpose room of the Hunt Library’s Institute for Emerging Issues, followed immediately by Decker, who will be traveling to manufacturing centers across the state. A slew of other events will run until 4 p.m. at various locations on Centennial Campus.

Governor Pat McCrory, who has declared Friday Manufacturing Day in North Carolina, will also visit hubs around the state, beginning with an address at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington. Manufacturing accounts for $88 billion annually in North Carolina, which is about 20 percent of the state’s economy.

Woodson has already shared an open letter to the campus about NC State’s leadership in the state’s manufacturing sector.
