IES Changes Name, Not Initials

For its 60th birthday, the NC State office previously known as Industrial Extension Service has given itself a new name: Industry Expansion Solutions.

Created in 1955 to promote the growth of industries statewide, IES has outgrown both its boundaries and its original moniker through the years. In addition to its main office on Centennial Campus, IES now has six regional offices throughout the state.

Its clientele has expanded from manufacturers to healthcare, governments, nonprofit organizations, institutions of higher learning and private businesses.

The new name, celebrated at a 60th anniversary event on Monday, will speak to the vast capabilities and the limitless potential of its clients.

“Our track record of helping clients positively impact their bottom-line results in business growth and profitability gives them the confidence needed to implement our proven high-performance solutions,” says IES Executive Director Terri Helmlinger Ratcliff. “Our world-leading experts and experienced industry specialists engineer solutions to increase productivity, promote growth and enhance performance.”

In conjunction with the change, IES has a redesigned website, with expanded information about its services and the industries it serves, the solutions it offers and the impact it has on North Carolina’s economy.
