Erik Dixon Named to Board of Trustees

An alumnus of the College of Engineering who is helping connect rural areas of North Carolina is the newest member of NC State's governing board.

Erik Dixon, a graduate of NC State’s College of Engineering who spent three decades in the computer networking industry, has been appointed to the university’s Board of Trustees for a term ending in June 2025. Dixon fills the seat previously occupied by Raymond T. Odierno, who died Oct. 8.

Dixon serves as a strategic adviser to AccessOn Networks, which is helping to provide advanced networking technology in rural North Carolina. He is the former vice president of Broadcom Limited and former CEO of LVL7 Systems.

Dixon has strong ties to NC State. He is a member of the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Hall of Fame, former member of the Board of Visitors, former part-time lecturer in the College of Engineering and former member of the advisory board in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

Dixon earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from NC State in 1988 and a Master of Business Administration from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School in 1998.
