NC State University and New Belgium Brewery have agreed to end their four-year co-branded beer collaboration. Old Tuffy Premium Lager and related merchandise will no longer be produced; it will be available on a limited basis until current supplies are sold.

“We appreciate New Belgium and their support over the last several years,” said NC State Chief Communications and Marketing Officer Brad Bohlander. “Our mutually-beneficial partnership to produce Old Tuffy generated financial support for NC State’s students and pride for our alumni and fans, as well as awareness for New Belgium as they established their North Carolina brewing operations.”

NC State and New Belgium launched the partnership in 2019. The agreement provided annual support to student-success initiatives and research projects. The collaboration also brought attention to and helped further develop the fermentation science program at the university. As with all officially licensed NC State merchandise, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Old Tuffy also provided scholarship funds for Wolfpack students in the areas of merit, need, study abroad and athletics.

NC State expects to announce a new beer sponsorship and licensing agreement in conjunction with the start of football season.
