Duke places 8th in U.S. News rankings, UNC 30th, Triangle Business Journal – Online, Sept. 13, 2012. Triangle universities are again well represented in the latest version of the U.S. News and World Report higher education ranking. N.C. State is tied for 106th in the nation, but is also listed as an “up-and-comer” this year and ranked 30th among engineering schools that offer doctorate degrees.
