Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard the warnings about PFAS, the per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (also known as forever chemicals) used in a variety of consumer products. As more information about PFAS’ health effects come to light, what can we do to protect ourselves?

Khara Grieger, assistant professor and Extension specialist in environmental health and risk assessment, joins us to talk about how we get exposed to PFAS, what we can do to minimize exposure, and how governments and policymakers go about issuing recommendations on exposure levels.

If you’re interested in learning more, NC State Extension has a free online publication about PFAS and PFAS exposure that addresses many of the most common questions surrounding PFAS exposure.
