You only get one chance at a first impression…

…And the iPad had me hooked from the start!

The first aspect that I noticed as I turned on the machine was the screen quality. I was blown away at how clear, defined, and colorful the lock screen was. After I unlocked it – with the classic quick-swish of my finger – I was again extremely impressed with the quality of picture that goes along with the home screen, and I couldn’t wait to test it with videos. We’ll get to that in a second.

A feature that I tested right away was the screen-shot feature. I learned from my beloved iPhone that by pressing the hold button and the center button at the same time you can take a screen shot, and sure enough it worked! So hopefully I can provide you all with some screen shots throughout the week!

After marveling at the screen’s clarity, I took the time to set-up my e-mail account with the mail program provided on the iPad. For those of you with iPhones, you go through the same process. For those of you without, it is a very quick entry of your e-mail address, an outgoing address and an incoming address – all which you can find somewhere on the site where you currently check your e-mail. It’s a very simple process to say the least.

My initial thought, after exploring the mail program, revolved around the layout. I’ve provided some screen shots of the interface of both the vertical and horizontal views. At first I was a little tentative to say I liked the interfaces (probably because I just was not used to them) so it seemed a little off. But as the day went on, I loved the big picture of the currently selected e-mail with the sidebar that, in the vertical position, you can choose to drop down from.

And for those of you looking closely at what’s in my email, yes – my Nana really is in charge of the Wii Bowling Team in her community!

Another feature I liked about the mail program was how easy it was to move Inbox messages to another folder. Although it is never a difficult process, I was just impressed with the way it was set up with in this program.

Over all, my first impression is a positive one. But over the next week, I’ll certainly look to delve deeper, to explore the point of the iPad, how it can be beneficial and the purpose it serves, or can serve.

Right now, I don’t have an answer besides that fact that it’s a top-of-the-line gadget you can show off to all your friends. I’m hoping I can find a valid answer, because I can already tell this is yet another Apple product I am hooked on!

I’ll have much more to say later, but for now I am going to go try-out the Netflix app and watch a movie as I fall asleep!
