Second Insurance Sign-up Begins

There’s time to make changes in your health insurance coverage during a follow-up enrollment period that begins today and ends July 29.

Visit the State Health Plan’s online portal to review your insurance and make any changes, which will take effect Sept. 1. If you’re satisfied with the coverage you have, you don’t need to take action.

If you moved to the 70/30 plan because of wellness requirements in effect back in June, you can opt for 80/20 coverage again because the tobacco and body mass restrictions have been dropped.

However, you’ll begin paying a $21.62 monthly employee premium for 80/20 coverage starting with your August paycheck.  There’s no charge for 70/30 employee coverage.

Know Your Plan

To help you avoid surprises, here are some tools to make sure you’ve signed up for the right coverage for yourself and your family.

Other changes on the way this fall:

  • a 5.3 increase in premiums for dependent coverage
  • higher co-pay amounts for visits to primary care doctors and specialists
  • increases in out-of-pocket maximums.
