Honoring a Legacy

As the longtime director of NC State University’s Caldwell Fellows program, Gerald Hawkins seemed to take all of his students under his wing. Now, many Caldwell alumni are joining forces to bolster the program and honor the legacy of Hawkins — who retired more than a decade ago — by raising funds for his namesake endowment.

A Carter Family Reunion

More than 100 descendants of textiles pioneers Wilbert J. "Nick" and Harry C. Carter, for whom Carter Stadium was originally named, will attend Saturday's noon game against Notre Dame. Three of the brothers' great-grandchildren are enrolled at NC State.

Pack Families Benefit From New Scholarship

The inaugural class of the Employee Dependent's Tuition Fund has enrolled at NC State, thanks to the generous donations that began with Chancellor Randy Woodson and his wife Susan. The class includes 127 children of NC State faculty and staff, who received $250,000 in tuition grants.

Honoring NC State’s Top ‘Yambassador’

Henry M. Covington was a longtime extension specialist whose research and partnerships with growers spurred the growth of North Carolina’s sweet potato industry. He passed away in 2004, but the North Carolina Sweet Potato Commission (NCSPC) established an endowment to honor the man affectionately known as “Mr. Sweet Potato” and to ensure that his legacy would continue.
