Cates Avenue Closed Part of Thursday

Cates Avenue will be closed from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday from Dan Allen Drive to just in front of Carmichael Gym for the dedication of Holmes Hall. Friday's Homecoming Parade will close much of Hillsborough Street from 5:30 p.m until 7 p.m.

A emergency exercise called "Operation Red Rail II" will simulate a train derailment Tuesday on campus. Traffic, classes and university services will not be disrupted, but federal, state and local emergency personnel will be on campus during the event.
